SideWalk

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home

Services & Impact

SideWalk is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness through community engagement and evidence-driven practices in Thurston County, WA. We provide resources and support to unhoused individuals with a focus on diversion assistance for those who meet the requirement of being literally homeless. Our Foundational Community Supports (FCS) offers additional supportive services to participants based on availability. We also offer one-time diversion assistance to help individuals return home or find a place with family.

At SideWalk, we believe that every person deserves the basic dignity of a home and we work tirelessly towards this goal. We rely on the support of volunteers for our day-to-day operations and welcome anyone who is willing to join our mission. We expect all staff and volunteers to be welcoming, non-judgmental, and have good listening skills. Our participants are the best experts on their own lives, and we aim to create a positive and respectful environment for them to thrive.

In addition to our services, we offer internship opportunities that allow individuals to learn behind the scenes of a non-profit organization. We are excited to help prepare the next generation of social services professionals and encourage anyone interested in our work to reach out to our Executive Director to learn more. Join us in our mission to end homelessness and create a better future for our community.

How it works: You make a donation and ask a buddy (or two or three!) to match the donation and forward it to another buddy to do the same, etc, etc. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO DUMP ICE WATER ON YOUR HEAD :)

The Housekey Challenge - Team Mike Reid

Help me offer a home to someone that doesn't have one! I've challenged SideWalk Executive Director Phil Owen to a race to see who can be the first to raise $500. When we have both met the goal we will have raised enough to move one person off the streets and into permanent housing.
