Art. Activism. Organizing. Community

WHEN - Sunday, September 11, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

WHERE -Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia, WA 98501

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us for an artist talk with Master Storyteller and Basketweaver, Harvest Moon, and Master Luthier, Daniel McKinstry. Both have deep ties to the region and a shared love for western red cedar as a medium for their craft. We’ll explore how handicraft is a form of storytelling and how it connects us to our homeplace and to each other.

This event is part of our Community Roots series and grew from the stories Harvest and Dan shared with us through The Third Thirty project. It was produced in collaboration with Arbutus Folk School.

Window Seat Media was awarded a grant from the American Historical Association to support Community Roots programming.

*A NOTE ABOUT PRICING

As a worker self-directed nonprofit, we balance our value for equity and accessibility in our programming with the need to honor the actual costs of skills and services being offered. That's why we're offering a large sliding scale of pricing ($0-$100) at these events! If folks who have an abundance and can pay a little more do, it will empower others to pay a little less when they need to. The outcome? Everyone will be able to attend. The actual cost of producing this event is about $20/person. Ticket sales support event costs such as facilitator honorariums, staff time, and speaker fees. Community donations allow our organization to be nimble with our offerings and services. We appreciate all donations, both large and small. Consider becoming a monthly donor today!
