ASHHO and Window Seat Media are co-producing this theatre workshop series on the 3rd Sundays of the month January - May 2023 aimed at engaging young people in the community. Come rehearse and co-perform with Brave Practice Playback Theatre Collective. See event information here.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The "ACTING + LISTENING" workshop series is for young people in the community interested in theatre and storytelling as a ways to express themselves and learn about others. Participants will become familiar with techniques in Playback Theatre, an original form of interactive and improvisational theatre where people share true moments from their lives and others play them back on the spot using music, conversation, images, and movement. By acting and listening, participants practice empathy, collaborate with others, and explore their own gifts and potential. We'll use theatre-based techniques as tools in self discovery and exploring issues of concern to the group.

*A NOTE ABOUT COST

This workshop has been free for the young people participating and we intend to keep it that way! Profits from this event will be split 50/50 between Window Seat Media and ASHHO as a means to support the work. We greatly appreciate all event donations, both large and small. When folks who have an abundance are able to contribute a little more, it empowers others to give a little less when they need to. The outcome? Everyone is able to participate. An experiment in social equity, we balance our value for accessibility with the need to honor the actual costs, talents, time, and labor needed to produce this offering. That's why, if you are able, please make a contribution to show your support so we can continue to grow this kind of innovative offering in the future!
