Join us for our final youth improv showcase performance!

We are celebrating the finale of this 5-session theatre community workshop series! Youth participants (ages 14-24) will perform Playback Theatre with Brave Practice members. We'll gather stories from you - the audience - and then "play them back" on the spot around this topic chosen by the group of young people: Stories of finding my own path. Background

ASHHO and Window Seat Media co-produced a once-a-month workshop series from January to May engaging young people in the community interested in theatre and storytelling as a ways to express themselves and learn about others. Participants practiced improv theater and learned Playback Theatre, an original form of interactive improv where people share true moments from their lives and others play them back on the spot using music, conversation, images, and movement. We used these theatre-based techniques as tools in self discovery, storytelling, and exploring issues that matter to the group. We practiced empathy, collaborated with one another, and explored our own gifts and potential.

Cost

This workshop has been free for the young people participating and we intend to keep it that way! Profits from this event will be split 50/50 between Window Seat Media and ASHHO as a means to support the work. We greatly appreciate all event donations, both large and small. When folks who have an abundance are able to contribute a little more, it empowers others to give a little less when they need to. The outcome? Everyone is able to participate. An experiment in social equity, we balance our value for accessibility with the need to honor the actual costs, talents, time, and labor needed to produce this offering.
