ThetaBreakers 2018

Kappa Alpha Theta's 33rd Annual Run for the Children Fundraiser

Stanford University's Kappa Alpha Theta is proud to host multiple events a year fundraising for Child Advocates of Silicon Valley (CASV), the local chapter of the larger national organization called Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA mentors speak for the 170,000 children who have experienced abuse and neglect and have been temporarily placed under the supervision of the court system for their own safety. CASA pairs individual children in foster care with trained volunteers who represent them in court and support them through an arduous court process, ensuring that each child will grow up in a healthy, safe, and loving environment.

Our largest fundraising event is called Theta Breakers, a 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run around the Stanford campus.  Stanford students, faculty, alums, and community members join together to participate in the race supporting CASV.

The funds raised at this event will be used by Child Advocates  to recruit, train and support volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) to serve as friends, mentors and advocates on behalf of children who are in the foster care system of Santa Clara County. Child Advocates has been aiding children who have experienced abuse and neglect since 1986. During this time, they have provided more than 16,000 foster children with CASAs.
