Homes for Students

of Higher Education

Homes for Students was created to provide homeless and at-risk college students with the support needed to maintain pursing their educational dreams.

As previous homeless college students ourselves, we know the intrinsic struggle and tough decisions these students face. However, our resources and finances are limited as we are still struggling students ourselves simply organizing our efforts and volunteering our time for this great cause.

The Problem: There are currently over 58,000 homeless college students nationwide, and over 5,600 in WA State.

These students are faced with hard situations and tough decisions. Many turn to drugs and alcohol to cope, sell drugs or engage in prostitution in order to pay bills and school expenses, are plagued with bad grades and much more.

Today, the student who would have become the engineer to fix Seattle’s traffic problems will drop out of college. Tomorrow, a student who could have become a climate scientist will choose a part time job over his studies. Reflect on our past and recall that Einstein, Tesla, Oprah Winfrey and many others scrapped by and barely accomplished their great feats. Imagine a world without their impact; how much could we be missing if someone of similar potential is left to slip between the cracks? The smallest investment today can instill a change in trajectory that can literally spans generations. Homes for Students is that change.

Our Mission: We believe that everyone should be afforded an equal academic opportunity and our mission is to help homeless and at risk-college students achieve their academic dreams.

Solution:
By engaging our community we can overcome this problem together. As previous homeless college students ourselves, we seek to be the innovators in our field. We know the many challenges students face and recognize the difficulties in searching for help. We seek out the "hiding homeless" by engaging in and bringing awareness and education to our community.

We provide personalized navigation of community resources, personal hygiene care packages, and scholarship assistance.

However, our overall goal is to open a student specific shelter. A place any student can stay completely FREE of charge, a sanctuary away from the typical, dismal urban shelters. We estimate we will need to raise $750,000 over the next 5 years in order to purchase our student home.

Donating = Loving           Help us create the future!
