This winter, Write253 will be moving into the downtown branch of the Tacoma Public Library!
The library has significantly renovated theMain Branch, and we have been invited to move into a new community hub that features three great non-profit neighbors. We will open a writing center to house our creative writing programs, as well as expand our letterpress print studio.
This move will result in an increase in program offerings, more opportunities for youth to be creative and build community, and more opportunities for us to host events such as field trips, performances, author talks, and workshops! Your donation will help us furnish the spaces and purchase much-needed technical equipment and supplies.
We can't wait to move in! Be on the look-out for a huge launch party once we get settled!

What does this new space mean?
Relocating to our new digs at the Main Library is going to transform Write253. This new space will bring all of our programming and equipment together under one roof. We’ll operate in a new “community hub” model on the second floor, functioning as part of an ecosystem with neighboring creative nonprofit organizations. Operating from within the Main Library will provide access to archival research in the Northwest Room, proximity to the Handforth Gallery, collaborations with the Maker Lab, and access to the library’s collections, services, resources, helpful staff, and incredible spaces at the reimagined downtown location.
In addition to our ongoing collaborations with a variety of Tacoma Public Schools and producing Tacoma Wayzgoose, Write253 will be able to host a variety of workshop series, one-off printmaking opportunities, collaborations with local artists, and events that help our young people develop their voices and plan for their futures.
More than anything else, we are excited to be a vital third space for teens in downtown Tacoma. Imagine a safe, cool space to hang out after school. A poetry library, random typewriters, printing presses, board games for word nerds, and caring adults to help support our youth. We couldn't be more excited!
