During the summer of 2017, our daughter Abby had a life-changing experience when she was a part of the first group of English teachers to volunteer with the International Language Program (ILP.org) and teach in the Foyer Coin des Cieux (Corner of Heaven Home) orphanage in Saint-Marc, Haiti. The orphanage is operated by Carole and Fritzner Morlant. ILP, in partnership with Pathways to English worked to begin the "Big Idea" in Foyer Coin des Cieux which seeks "... to break the poverty cycle in Haiti for these orphans by providing them the opportunity to not only learn English, but to receive a full education in English. An education in English opens doors for employment opportunities for these children, who are frequently the latest in a long line of impoverished Haitians."
Abby has returned this semester as the head teacher. Our family plans to join her and bring Christmas to the orphanage this year! Because so many of our friends and family have expressed interest in helping with this venture, we are raising tax deductible funds that will go to help provide food and necessities for the orphans, as well as add to the battery power that can be used to sustain the solar panels during all hours of the day. The state-sponsored power in Haiti can be extremely sporadic and the Morlants are seeking to increase their solar power so that they can use something besides the expensive gas generator when they need power.
Thank you to all of our friends and family
who have expressed an interest in supporting this endeavor!
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Dave & Robin Faldmo Family
