Ragnar RunRaiser 2018

Running Ragnar to raise money & awareness for Amputee Athletes!

For the 5th consecutive year, Amputee Blade Runners will field a team in the Tennessee Ragnar Relay.  An entire team of amputees will run the 200 miles from Chattanooga to Nashville.  Join us as we host our 2018 Ragnar RunRaiser to raise funds and friends!

Our goal is to raise $10,000, allowing us to provide 3 running blades to amputees. Amputee Blade Runners is a nonprofit that provides running legs to active amputees at no cost. Insurance only covers the cost of a walking leg, and many amputees who want a running leg are unable to pay the $10,000-$15,000 cost. Our practitioners and fabricators donate their time, greatly reducing the cost of care.

Throughout the 200 mile(ish) race we to want compete hard, inspire others, break records, along with raising money & awareness for amputee athletes everywhere!  Please consider donating to this campaign so we can further our mission to help more amputees realize their dreams of running free again, or for some, the first time ever.

New Athletes

Sydney Fleming Cross Country

Sydney is a middle schooler from the mountains of East Tennessee. Like many from the area, she loves the outdoors and enjoys running with her twin sister. Sydney is a natural leader and started a girls running club at her school. Sydney is from the same school district as Blake Leeper, the Paralympic sprinter. The two have another thing in common - they are both amputees. Sydney competes on her school cross country and track team but is in constant pain when she runs. A running blade will give her the chance to run faster, with less pain and more joy.

Lucas Tae Kwon Do

Lucas is a fourteen year old from Georgia. Both of his feet were amputated due to a congenital condition shortly after his adoption from China at age 7. A black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he is already a proven athlete. He is also an advocate for others, having helped his parents become aware of 2 of his friends in China who needed a family whom they also adopted. Lucas was told he would never be able to run well because of his type of amputation. Running blades will help him realize his dream of running "with anyone and having the chance of winning."
