Event Activities Include:
Presentation (7 pm)
Author Tao Orion will give a talk about alternative uses of invasive species. She is the author of Beyond the War on Invasive Species: A Permaculture Approach to Ecosystem Restoration. She teaches permaculture design at Oregon State University and at Aprovecho, a 40-acre nonprofit sustainable-living educational organization. Tao consults on holistic farm, forest, and restoration planning through Resilience Permaculture Design, LLC. She holds a degree in agroecology and sustainable agriculture from UC Santa Cruz, and grows organic fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and animals on her southern Willamette Valley homestead, Viriditas Farm.
Ancestral Skills Demos (ongoing throughout the evening)
Volunteers will demonstrate some of the awesome skills that we teach in our classes, such as basket weaving, stone tool making, and felt making.
Silent Auction (6 pm–8:30 pm)
At the silent auction, you can engage in a bidding war for crazy cool stuff and fund another year of programs for Rewild Portland. Items at the auction include things like massages, artwork, gift cards, float tanks, wellness items, movie passes, and much more! Stay tuned for a list of items.
