Orchestra Next, resident orchestra with the Eugene Ballet Company, provides mentorship to more than 100 aspiring musicians every year from some of the most reputable professional musicians in the Pacific Northwest. ON's model is simple: provide live music for the ballet, place students next to professionals, pay everyone, keep administrative costs low, cultivate excellence, and have fun.
Last year, Orchestra Next emerged from the shuttered year with our biggest season yet: we performed Cinderella, 7 shows of The Nutcracker, the world premieres of Heaven and Earth and Taming of the Shrew. ON collaborated with UO Theatre on a show called Once, with Danceability on a devised piece called Next Movement, and had dozens of recording sessions in our ON OFFice & Recording Studio. Perhaps most exciting of all, we recorded The Nutcracker for an exciting release due out this December. It's no wonder that the Register Guard said "Orchestra Next is a great example of doing more with less." We are creative, collaborative, innovative, and we play our hearts out (even during quarantine)!
