Orchestra Next, resident orchestra with the Eugene Ballet Company, provides mentorship to more than 100 aspiring musicians every year from some of the most reputable professional musicians in the Pacific Northwest. ON's model is simple: provide live music for the ballet, place students next to professionals, pay everyone, keep administrative costs low, cultivate excellence, and have fun.
Last year, Orchestra Next managed through the shuttered year by releasing online versions Stravinsky's The Firebird, Grieg's Peer Gynt, and Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. ON collaborated with UO Theatre on a show called Personal Game and spent several months moving into and setting up the new ON OFFice & Recording Studio. It's no wonder that the Register Guard said "Orchestra Next is a great example of doing more with less." We are creative, collaborative, innovative, and we play our hearts out!
