Orchestra Next, resident orchestra with the Eugene Ballet Company, provides mentorship to more than 100 aspiring musicians every year from some of the most reputable professional musicians in the Pacific Northwest. ON's model is simple: provide live music for artistic productions, place students next to professionals, pay everyone, keep administrative costs low, cultivate excellence, and have fun.
Last year, Orchestra Next performed 6 shows of The Nutcracker, including their 100th show with the Eugene Ballet at the Hult Center! The season also included ballet interpretations of Carmen and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and "The Toni's" — a celebration of Eugene Ballet's acclaimed artistic director Toni Pimble. This year marks an exciting new partnership with Oregon Contemporary Theater in a 10-show run of the rock musical Lizzie. It's no wonder that the Register Guard said "Orchestra Next is a great example of doing more with less." We are creative, collaborative, innovative, and we play our hearts out!
