In 2019 a community member’s life was uprooted after he was detained by ICE outside of a courtroom. Since then, he has struggled to get back on track, and is now facing eviction. This undocumented, Queer, Latinx Hudson Valley community member was raised in New York State, completing his K-12 education in the NYS public school system and receiving his college-degree in NYC.
He is in urgent need of funds to secure stable housing, complete his DACA application, and get back on track after being held by ICE in a detention center.
Your donation, today, will put him on a path towards independence - giving him the financial freedom and stability to continue his work in our community. Now, more than ever, in these difficult times, it’s important to stay committed to one another.
Please consider donating here. No amount is too small, anything helps. Feel free to share his story on social media using the graphic below as well.
The Newburgh LGBTQ+ Center is committed to creating resources for the folks that are impacted by the systems in our society designed to hinder the growth and progress of BIPOC. Fundraisers like this one are the reason why we created the Phoenix Rising Fund because of the needs that our most vulnerable need in order to get and stay stable.
With gratitude,
The Newburgh LGBTQ+ Center and Queers for Justice
