International Rabbit Day 2018

Help NMHRS provide vet care for rabbits

International Rabbit Day is September 22nd, and to celebrate we are highlighting some of our medical fosters and requesting donations to help us continue our ability to save rabbits' lives. Overall, NMHRS provides vet care for dozens of rabbits every year (totaling thousands of dollars), including saving many from the euthanasia list.

Here are some rabbits we have helped/are helping in 2018. Your donations help NMHRS save rabbits like these. NMHRS is a 501(c)3 organization run entirely by donations and volunteers.

MEMPHIS

When Memphis was just a few weeks old he was thrown out of a moving car on the freeway and landed on his face. He suffered a skull fracture, collapsed sinus, broken ear, eye trauma, and multiple lacerations. All of his front teeth also snapped off. He will need a couple surgeries and medications to heal.

UNO

Uno was found as a stray with one ear and 3/4 of his tail missing. The spot where his missing ear should be has developed an abscess and he has undergone 5 surgeries to remove it. He is still trying to heal today.

ALEX

Alex came to us after some inexperienced (though well-intentioned) vets tried to help his eye infection with no luck. He ended up getting his eye removed.

PHINEAS

We suspect that Phineas was also thrown from a car because when he was found as a stray his tibia and fibula were broken, his femur and pelvis were fractured, and his leg was dislocated. Unfortunately the leg couldn't be saved so he had to have it amputated.

LINCOLN

Lincoln was found as a stray and had an abscess on his cheek. He underwent surgery to remove it and has healed well so far.

THELMA

Another stray, Thelma came in with overgrown teeth and an infection in her genital/anus area that required surgery and antibiotics.
