Our AfterSchool Program provides so much more than a place for kids to do homework. It is a place where our students are included, encouraged and celebrated each day.
Each weekday throughout the school year, close to 100 students ages 6-13 come to our AfterSchool Programs at Camp Truth and Camp Grace. These youth are greeted by staff, including our teen StreetLeaders, with a smile and words of welcome.
Everyone gets a chance to chill out and have a snack before tackling homework. And if our students do not have homework we always have work packets and reading for them to do, usually with the help of staff, a dedicated volunteer, college interns, Bonner Scholars or a StreetLeader.
Each child gets time for recreation, too. Basketball, Legos, and card games like Uno (which is pretty cut throat sometimes LOL). We also partner with other organizations like 4-H to provide enrichment opportunities.
Your support of this critical program makes a world of difference for these kids. And if you give a recurring gift, that will support them throughout the school year. Although our AfterSchool Program is FREE to our students, it does cost us about $25 per week per student. And that adds up!
