Support the Waldorf School of New Orleans

Dear Waldorf School of New Orleans Friends and Family,

On the first day of school, Waldorf School of New Orleans teachers, grade school students, and many family members came together to welcome the youngest of our grade school students during the traditional rose ceremony at our new campus.

Waldorf School of New Orleans is also in an exciting phase of growth and development.

This year marks our 20th year as a school and 100 years of Waldorf Education around the world.  We have grown from a developing Waldorf school into a member school of the American Waldorf School Association.  Our current students are part of our largest student cohort ever, 166 students.  Our community is expanding, as we welcomed over 50 new families and a number of new staff member to our school this year.

You are receiving this letter because you are a part of the Waldorf school of New Orleans community.  We are reaching out to current families, grandparents, alumni and other friends of our school and requesting your financial support through our annual giving campaign.  The future of Waldorf School of New Orleans is exciting, and we need your support to achieve our educational goals.

This summer we moved into our new permanent home, our Main Campus at Rose Collaborative.  A beautiful historic three-story brick school building in the Seventh Ward with room to grow into stand-alone grades classes, a performance space, a music room, handwork room and three playgrounds.  Our Early Childhood Center on Pensiton St. serves as an important feeder program to our grades program.  We are at the threshold of transitioning from adolescence to adulthood.

We have raised some of the money to cover the expenses of the move and outfitting our new space through pledges to our capital campaign spanning several years.  We have absorbed the immediate expenses of the move, cell tower remediation and furniture, fixture and expenses totaling well over $100,000.  In essence, we have borrowed funds from our operational budget until we can repay them through our fundraising efforts. We are also committed to serving our new neighborhood and have filled three community scholarships, also part of the fundraising,  in our first year at our new home.

The Annual Appeal closes the gap between tuition and operating costs, and supports virtually every area of school life.  Our goal is 100% participation with each family giving what they can.  Gifts range from $5 to $5000.

We invite you to join us on Thursday, September 17th, for our Third Annual Day of Giving on World Waldorf Day to drop off your donation or sign a pledge form and enjoy coffee, refreshments, meet Board members and our beautiful community school. We will be successful if we, as a community, stand together to form a shining vision of generosity and abundance in support of this new move and the next big chapter in the life of the school.

Thank you for your generosity and support.

In community,

Ramgopal Mettu

President, Board of Directors
