Services & Impact

The mission of the Tres Doux Foundation is to celebrate, embrace and enhance the lives of children with developmental delays and disabilities by presenting them as whole beings, and to support organizations that do the same.

The primary project of the Tres Doux Foundation is Beignet Fest, an annual festival held in New Orleans and designed to celebrate the iconic beignet from traditional sweet treats with powdered sugar to savory delicacies that feature seafood, cheese and more.

With proceeds from the Beignet Fest, the Tres Doux Foundation makes grants to local nonprofit organizations that provide accessible, quality programs for children with developmental delays, namely autism.

“Through our journey with our son, we found a gap in programs for children on the autism spectrum, and we wanted to change that.” – Sherwood Collins, Tres Doux Foundation Founder and Executive Director

The main diagnosis for children with a development delay is autism. Today, it is estimated that 1 in 68 children (and 1 in 42 boys) is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. (Centers for Disease Control)

Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person’s ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by behavioral challenges.
