About St. Bernard Project
St. Bernard Project (SBP) is a nonprofit organization established in 2006 by Zack Rosenburg and Liz McCartney who recognized the significant needs in the New Orleans area following Hurricane Katrina. SBP’s mission is to ensure that disaster-impacted citizens and communities recover in a prompt, efficient and predictable manner. SBP works to share lessons learned, prevent common barriers to recovery, and help communities utilize SBP’s standardized and proven-effective model. Since 2006, SBP has rebuilt homes for nearly 1000 families with the help of more than 100,000 volunteers in New Orleans, LA; Joplin, MO; Staten Island, NY; Rockaway, NY; Monmouth & Ocean County, NJ; and San Marcos, TX.
