A New Orleans Celebration Benefiting Katrina Relief

Ten years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, families throughout Greater New Orleans continue to be unable to return home. The Porters are one such family. Born and raised in the Lower Ninth Ward, Eric and Rhealynda Porter lived in the house where Eric grew up. Katrina tore off the roof and destroyed the interior of their home. To make matters worse, Eric's diabetes worsened, blinding him and forcing him to leave his job, and contractors defrauded them and never finishing rebuilding the home. The Porters found a new sense of purpose when their daughter, Cirè, was born in 2008 -- the Lower Ninth Ward is where they want her to grow up.

Giveafunk, a celebration of New Orleans's rich musical heritage, will benefit Eric, Rhealynda, and Cirè. Your critical support will make sure that ten years after the storm, the Porters will be able to return to their home and to the community that they agree is like no place else.
