Founded in 2014, the Marigny Opera House Foundation supports New Orleans-based performing artists, including the Marigny Opera Ballet, now in its 12th Season. What was once an abandoned church is now a vital center for the arts, offering an average of two performances per week of jazz, classical music, dance, theatre and more. Admission to nearly all of the performances are donation-based, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
Hope for the Future
We believe in New Orleans; we believe in our future. And ever since our doors opened in 2010 we have taken action. A ruined church is back to life. New artists, dance groups, opera and theatre companies began life on our stage. Over one thousand performances have been presented. Hundreds of students have attended free dress rehearsals of the Marigny Opera Ballet.
This year we move ahead with an average of two performances each week and a full season of ballet and opera beginning in September and running through May 2027.
