Here’s what happened in 2010: an abandoned, ruined church was purchased. Repairs and renovations began. And the doors opened to the artists of the New Orleans Fringe Festival.
A year later The Marigny Opera House Foundation was born: a 501(c)3 Charity dedicated to New Orleans’ performing artists.
Against all odds, the Marigny Opera House survived and flourished.
How? An institution that presents dozens of local artists each year---on a donation basis? A place that has a resident ballet company performing season after season? A home for community events? Box office revenues only cover a fraction of the expense involved.
Here’s the answer: charity.
The Marigny Opera House keeps its doors open because of the donations we receive from individuals and charitable foundations in New Orleans and beyond, and from the great City of New Orleans and State of Louisiana.
If you believe in our mission, if you’ve ever experienced a performance at the Marigny Opera House, you can help us continue. By making a fully tax-deductible donation to the Marigny Opera House Foundation.
