Send a Kid to Camp

Support a child so that they have an opportunity to attend Camp BREC

When school is out our kids need structure + safety + fun of award-winning camps!

According to a 2020 study commissioned by Capital Area United Way, 52% of EBR households areconsidered Asset Limited, Income Constrained (ALICE) or in poverty.

Summer camp allows children opportunities to engage in healthy activities during the summer, socialize and make new friends, get physical activity away from screens, and make memories! Other important benefits of kids attending high quality camps, according to a study commissioned by the American Camp Association, are below.

Youth Development

  • Youth who were engaged in high quality camps generally reported high levels of belonging, supportive youth-staff relationships, and opportunities for experiential learning
  • Higher levels of youth reported social awareness, independence, and grit as well as parent-reported higherlevels of affinity for nature and willingness to try new things

Effect on Education:

  • Youth engaged in high quality camps reported better subsequent school experiences
