MORE ABOUT WORLD SIGHT:

World Sight is a Non-Profit organization that works to establish pop-up surgical centers in rural communities within developing nations. Our focus is on sustainability; we hire physicians local to each developing nation, and these physicians travel from their city-centers to rural communities to perform free surgeries for folks who would otherwise be unable to receive medical care.

We do not pay US-based surgeons to travel to remote areas, as this tends to be a temporary solution to a chronic problem. We do not allocate our funds towards building "World Sight" facilities; rather, our "pop-up" eye camp model sets up surgical weekends within pre-existing infrastructure.

We currently have World Sight eye camps in Tanzania, Ghana, Madagascar, Pakistan and Iraq.

In 2015, we hope to add Ethiopia and Bangladesh to this list. With your help, this is only the beginning; thank you for your support!

WHY MOUNT KILIMANJARO?

World Sight has already worked to establish our connections in Tanzania; our Tanzanian physicians have been holding "pop up" surgical weekends and have helped thousands. Our team is headed to our Tanzanian eye camp this summer to conduct a public health survey and to document the great work of our Tanzanian surgeons; we figured that while already there, we would take the opportunity to see Tanzania from the "roof of Africa."
This journey will be a new one for us all. However, our team has a few things in common: we are all amateur hikers who are way in over our heads AND we all love World Sight and don't have to think twice about climbing the fourth highest mountain in the world to raise awareness and funds for our global community.

Your support for this cause truly means the world to us, and YOU are part of the reason we will make it to the peak!
