The Journal of the Kansas Leadership Center

INSPIRATION FOR THE COMMON GOOD

Services & Impact

Nobody does civically minded journalism like the The Journal of the Kansas Leadership Center. Through a combination of cutting-edge design, vivid photography, powerful illustrations and award-winning storytelling, KLC's quarterly magazine inspires and empowers the civically engaged to aim higher. Distributed free of charge to more than 7,000 alumni of KLC leadership development programs, The Journal is a thoughtful, impartial resource for understanding leadership and pressing civic challenges in Kansas and beyond.

The Journal also publishes content online at klcjournal.com and has a vibrant social media presence. Its newest initiative is "Journal Talks," a KLC effort to convene small-group conversations across Kansas on important community challenges being covered in The Journal. The first such gatherings are focusing on the relationship between communities of color and law enforcement, the subject of The Journal's Fall 2017 special civic engagement edition.

Chris Green, a former Kansas Statehouse journalist, serves as the managing editor of The Journal. Shaun Rojas is the director of KLC's civic engagement initaitive, Journal Talks. The publication is staffed by a diverse team of 19 contributors from across the region.

By supporting The Journal through a monthly or one-time donation, you will:

  • Help The Journal expand the depth, quality and frequency of its coverage of important civic leadership examples and topics.
  • Pay it forward by ensuring that future KLC alumni continue to receive The Journal on a quarterly basis.
  • Play a special role in growing the community of people exploring tough issues in thoughtful, productive ways.
  • Support the advancement of more productive conversations on tough topics across the state through the Journal Talks convenings being organized by the Kansas Leadership Center.

The Journal reaches thousands of civically engaged Kansans, including those in government, media, nonprofit, business, education, and faith sectors. With a small monthly donation to The Journal, you'll be helping influence the civic culture in Kansas to become healthier, more productive and better positioned to make progress on the most daunting challenges that serve as barriers to creating a stronger, healthier and more prosperous state.
