The Central Park Master Plan adopted by the City Council in 2017 identified a location for a Fallen Heroes Memorial that is intended to recognize San Mateo community members who died during an armed conflict while serving in the military as well as those members of the San Mateo Police and Fire Departments who died while on duty.
