About This Event:

Walk, Hike, Go! Sharp Island, Hong Kong is part of a global, 48-hour fundraiser for Sunsar Maya! If you cannot complete the hike, feel free to join us and walk as long as you are able, or donate to support the students of Sunsar Maya. My goal is to raise at least $600 (USD) - enough to provide everything a student needs for one year, including academic support, healthy meals, medical care, and mental health counseling. Thanks for sponsoring our hike!

About Sharp Island:

Sharp Island has been listed in a CNN travel article as one of Hong Kong’s most underrated and unexplored attractions and is a part of the UNESCO Global Geopark in Hong Kong.  The island is a short 2.5 kilometres in length and boasts beautiful geological formations including a tidal Tombolo.  It is home to abundant bird life and protected coral reefs.  At the 136m peak of the island, the panoramic views are simply stunning, offering views of Kau Sai Chau Island, Sai Kung and other coastal points of interest.  Hap Mun Bay beach is known for its beautiful white sand and clear water, a perfect location to finish a hike.
The hike from Kiu Tsui Beach to Hap Mun Bay is 2km long, suitable for the whole family.  The initial ascent starts with stairs then changes to a traditional trail.  We will take our time, enjoy the views, take plenty of photo’s and hopefully spot one of Sharp Islands famous White-bellied Sea Eagles.

Junk Boat fee: $40 HKD return per person Fee same for Adult & Child.
Purchase ticket at Blue Flag Boats stand before embarking.

We disembark at Kiu Tsui Beach on Sharp Island and hike across spine of island to Hap Mun Bay for a swim, lunch & relax.

What is "Walk, Hike, Go!"?

Walk, Hike, Go! is a 48-hour fundraiser for Sunsar Maya on September 15th-16th in locations around the world! Groups of friends will gather to raise awareness and funds for Sunsar Maya. All kinds of activities are welcome: a hike up a nearby peak, a stroll through a local park, a bike ride to your favorite bars–whatever fun you can come up with!

What is Sunsar Maya?

Sunsar Maya builds pathways out of poverty by improving the livelihoods of vulnerable children and women through holistic, community-based services.  We currently operate two community centeres in Nepal, where we provide an after-school program for youth ages 3-18, a women's literacy program, and trainings for rural teachers. Our goal is to provide our students with the academic, emotional, and physical support they need to lift themselves out of poverty and find long-term happiness and success in life.
