As an experienced professional nurse and mother, watching patients of all ages rationing or going without lifesaving insulin because of the cost is an unacceptable injustice to me. I believe we can and must change this crisis by supporting small-scale community production allowing affordable access to insulin. Open Insulin is developing the first freely available, open organisms for insulin production that will be practical and cost effective for small-scale, locally-based groups to use. With your help, the Open Insulin project can sustain its humanitarian effort and continue its incredible work in the lab, fighting for affordable insulin one step at a time.
