To celebrate Earth Day, we invite everyone from Smucker's and the Discover Building to join us and support one of our farming communities with access to the clean, safe drinking water they need to thrive.
We are partnering with Numi Foundation to serve the thousand farmers and families that live in Egypt's oldest farming community, where we source mint and chamomile for the Numi Tea RTD line. This project builds on our work with the foundation: together we've already helped to provide water to the 4,000 residents of rural villages in Madagascar (see video here) and to the 6,500 people living at India's largest organic tea farm, thanks in part to many of you who donated to that campaign last year.
Smucker's has already contributed $100,000 to the Together for H2Ope campaigns, so your donations will be leveraged 50 to 1!
The site for this project is Al Fayoum Oasis, right near the world-famous pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. This land was originally irrigated by the ancient pharohs and used as a site where they stored fresh water: how ironic is it then that today, the people living there drink contaminated water and have no municipal sanitation.
But with your help, we’re going to change that.
