#OpenGaza: Trauma and Hope, First Hand

With violence escalating in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei and Ran Goldstein were in the U.S. to present the important work of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme and Physicians for Human Rights - Israel, and discuss the mental and physical health crisis facing children in Gaza and the impact of the blockade. They spoke on the West Coast and East Coast from October 13-31 at the invitation of Rebuilding Alliance, the Gaza Mental Health Foundation, Seattle Physicians for Social Responsibility,Psychologists for Social Responsibility, and dozens of medical institutions, universities, faith groups, and advocates including the Harvard School of Public Health, and UMass Amhearst. The tour closed in Washington DC with a Congressional briefing in Cannon House Office Building on Thursday October 29th, to a capacity audience that included staff to both Senators and Representatives.

• Gaza Community Mental Health Programme's local clinics in Beit Hanoun and in Rafah.  GCMHP has partnered with Community Based Organizations to provide psycho-social counselling to children and families in the most marginalized communities.  Your donation will extend staffing for another 3 months;
• Physicians for Human Rights - Israel's mobile clinics that bus doctors, supplies and medical staff (all volunteers) to Palestinian villages in the West Bank and Gaza to provide medical care.  Your donation will pay for supplies, transit, and set-up costs.
