It's Time for Light!

Send three solar lights to Gaza's Children and shine yours every Wednesday

In Gaza, the blockade has lasted eleven years, with daily blackouts over all that time.  Electricity has been out for 20 hours each day, which made even the simplest of tasks impossible. Now the electricity is staying on 10-12 hours a day, but there are still many times at night when there's no power, or only one light bulb, or no way to prepay the electric bill to turn the lights on.

We're asking your help to send Nur al-Amal (Light of Hope) solar-powered lanterns through the blockade to children in Gaza so they can study and play safely when the power is out.

Rebuilding Alliance partnered with four Palestinian NGOs to distribute lights directly to families in need. Remarkably, the Bloomberg Foundation is providing a matching grant to send one more for every one donated!  Help empower Gaza's next generation, help open the blockade, and bring hope to all.

How can you participate and bring more light into the world?

  • Contribute now to send LittleSuns to Gaza's children. For a donation of as little as $50, we will send three LittleSun solar lights to Gaza and mail one as a gift for your window;
  • Families in Gaza are placing their Nur al-Amal lights outside their homes on Wednesday nights with their messages to the world.  To reply, place a light in your window (need not be solar) on Wednesday nights.
  • Take a picture of youself with your light and your message and upload it to Instagram, direct message @RebuildingAlliance, tagging #itstimeforlight  #nuralamal #ICareAboutGaza
  • Or just click Contribute, then select, "Contribute with no gift option" to just send all the lights there;

Thanks to the remarkable generosity of individuals, families, schools and faith groups and matching grants, Rebuilding Alliance has already sent 35,600 Nur al Amal solar lights to children in Gaza. However, there are 750,000 children in Gaza, and all are impacted by this eleven year blockade.  Please be creative: hold a bake sale, a dance-a-thon, a concert, set-up a giving table to raise funds to send one to every child!
