The Giving Saguaro 2026: Direct Giving to Tucson Families 🌵
Every winter, the TACO Team runs The Giving Saguaro, our annual direct-giving campaign for Tucson families who need extra help during the holidays.
What you made possible last year: 25 supporters raised $4,223, and we delivered holiday support to 24 Tucson families: $100 for each family, plus new gifts, wrapping supplies, and homemade baked goods. We did that without a matching donor for the first time, which means our community stepped up and gave more on its own than the year before.
We spend your donations carefully. In past years we gave $100 Visa gift cards. Last year the activation fees had climbed so high that too much of each donation was going to the card company and not to the family. So we switched to giving $100 in cash. The family gets the full $100 and can spend it where they need it most.
Why it matters more this year: Groceries, rent, and everyday essentials cost more than they did a few years ago, and many Tucson families are feeling it. A holiday that used to be tight is now out of reach for some.
This year's plan: Our goal is $6,000. We are starting with about 20 families, and that number may grow as more families register. Every dollar beyond what those 20 families need goes to the families who register later. Your gift covers:

Donations close Friday, December 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time. We'll post the results when the campaign wraps, as we always do.
