InhaleExhale 2020 Series

Sharing Our Stories. Strengthening Our Communities.

"I think I speak for many people who experienced the day - it's a marker, something we'll remember as a day of openings."

Window Seat Media is a collaborative of multimedia storytellers who are committed to weaving the stories we don't hear into the fabric of our public life. Our current project - InhaleExhale - explores our stories about death and dying. We launched in November with a day-long gathering that mixed storytelling and art with resource and information sharing. We learned about green burial, home funerals, and death doulas. We shared stories as part of a lunchtime playback theater performance, and we reflected on our own experiences in writing workshops. We're excited to continue the conversation into 2020, but we need your help to make it happen.

We are asking for your help to raise $2,500 to support honoraria, travel, and exhibition expenses for the artists and speakers who will bring their knowledge, stories, and creativity to our community in 2020.

We're moving forward with a monthly series of activities. We kicked off the series in January with live storytelling in collaboration with StoryOly. We'll gather at the Capitol Theater in Olympia for an evening of dance, music, visual art, and conversation in February. In March, we'll join together for a facilitated conversation about death over dinner at Waterstreet Cafe. Guest speakers, experiential learning, nuts and bolts workshops, open space to share and ask questions, photo and art exhibitions in local venues, film screenings and more will continue into the spring, summer and fall. Each event will be produced in partnership with local organizations and/or artists. Our goal is to amplify local knowledge, share powerful ideas, and ask what is possible at death and in life.
