Older Americans Month 2022

Seniors’ Lack of Internet Access and the Resulting Public Health Crisis

Today nearly 22 million (42%) older Americans lack broadband access at home. Black and Latino's seniors are 2.5 and 3.3 times more likely to be offline. The Federal Communications Commission calls broadband access a “super” determinant of health, and not having internet as one of the leading causes of mortality from COVID-19.

CTN is an increasingly important part of the solution - 74% of our learners report having better access to health care after our training, and 70% report feeling less lonely. We are truly having a significant impact on both digital literacy skills and overcoming social isolation for  our senior clients.
