iACT's #GivingTuesday goal is $15,000 which will provide a daily meal for one year for three Ponds in refugee camp Djabal.

A daily meal is an essential part of the routine at the Little Ripples in-home preschool centers in Darfuri refugee camps in eastern Chad. The meals are sourced, prepared, and served by refugee women from the camp. Meals rotate and include lentils, rice, vegetables, and meat when possible.

As we all know, children need their bellies full in order to learn and grow. Food rations from the humanitarian aid sector have drastically decreased over the recent years, to below 800 calories per person per day.  This year, the rainy season in eastern Chad was particularly dry, and families who rely on the harvest to make up the loss in humanitarian aid were not able to grow as much food as they might need in the coming year. This makes the daily meal at Little Ripples all the more critical as it might be the only meal that children receive that day.

This #GivingTuesday, give a #DailyMeal for Darfur refugee children. Your donation supports the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of boys and girls ages 3 to 5, the next generation of leaders.

Little Ripples is a co-created, refugee-led program that cultivates children’s potential through play-based learning. It is designed as a scalable, durable, and cost-effective early childhood development program that does not sacrifice quality. Little Ripples is led, managed, and expanded by the women of the refugee camp. The income they earn gives them agency and voice in their household and the camp community.

We believe that early childhood education can break the cycle of violence endemic to refugee populations, like our friends from Darfur and the Central African Republic. Join us in breaking the cycle and empowering women to lead the way.
